Welcome to the Florida Institute for Saltwater Heritage (FISH) Web Portal F.I.S.H. has amalgamated three web sites into this one location. Three sites were initially in service to address different areas of interest to the commercial fisherman, residents of and visitors to Cortez Florida. The initial site was the FISHpreserve.org site. This site was developed to inform the public of the need to preserve pristine shoreline fish breeding grounds, such as 'The Kitchen' in the Cortez area.##crossLinks## The Florida Institute for Saltwater Heritage (a not for profit organization) had a goal to purchase a substantial tract of this shoreline to do just that. The web site was set up to help raise awareness and funds (in conjunction with Fishing Festival). FISH achieved that goal and purchased the FISH Preserve property. The FISHpreserve.org site has been completely updated to reflect the current status of ongoing projects. ( you can visit it here!). The annual Cortez Commercial Fishing Festival is the main fund raising vehicle for FISH. With more than 20,000 visitors annually it is a great success. The new interactive cortezfishingfestival.org site is available HERE FISHnews.org is a dynamic news site set up for members of FISH and the public to interact in an ongoing basis. Welcome to the FISH family of web sites, now conveniently located 'under one roof'. |
